Monday was a very busy day spent on my own, without the other interns. I mainly spent the day liaising with PRs about a lot of urgent call-backs but this was problematic because the majority of the samples were out on a shoot with Sarah Barlow or being held for a shoot with Lucie Clifford who was away from the office and uncontactable. This required an excellent level of communication and a good memory in order to keep track of what would need to be returned urgently when the samples arrived back from the shoot the next day. I booked a number of vans using the company's outsourced courier service and felt really confident with the process. I also arranged Sarah Harrison's appointments for an upcoming shoot which is a fun task as it means reaching out to more senior members of a lot of brand's PR teams but is quite complicated as it means rearranging time slots so that Sarah can go to every showroom she needs. Today I was asked about joining the Fashion News Desk for my final week to do some different tasks including researching and writing, which is an exciting prospect as this is an area of experience which I am still lacking in but would most like to explore.
Tuesday was as equally busy as Monday, with the added pressure of writing my credits in preparation for Wednesday's shoot and packing up the samples ready to go. I had to pack the samples up in a logical way so that it was made easier on the shoot day when I would need to organise and steam them. The couriers came to collect the samples much earlier than anticipated so we had a bit of a mad rush to try and gather everything up, which made the process much more stressful that I would have preferred!
On the day of the shoot, it was my responsibility to get the samples ready, dress the model, make tea and coffee and generally be on hand for whatever I was needed for. I feel like I made such a good impression with Lucie, the stylist, and I'm happy that I've taken a lot away from today's shoot experience.
Thursday went by so quickly! The tasks in the fashion cupboard are always so repetitive and simplistic which means the days just seem to disappear. I reorganised the beauty cupboard again as it had already got so messy and chaotic since it was last organised a couple of weeks ago. A really cool press release came today from Benefit about the release of a new pioneering and revolutionary product. It was essentially a digital countdown clock, ticking down to the product's release date on 1st February at 8pm and there wasn't much more information about it other than that which only makes me more excited to see what it is. I've loved getting to handle lots of different beauty press releases in the last few months and gaining more of an insight into the process of how beauty pages in a magazine come together.
Friday was another very repetitive day, where myself and the other intern here made about 50 returns but didn't do much else!
